Getting through security at
the airport—Sydney
makes it easy. This month, Sydney
gives you tips to help you breeze through the TSA’s security at any airport.
There are two main tips:
dress appropriately, and pack what you don’t absolutely need in your checked
baggage. Here's the breakdown in four easy steps:
- Keep it simple. The less accessories and metal
hardware on your body and clothes, the better. Think about everything from
hair barrettes, to sunglasses, to jewelry, belts, and even underwire bras.
If you can avoid it—do so. And something you might not think
about—body-piercings. Some security check points may require you to remove
them in private, so maybe you want to do that before you get to the
airport.
- Shoes must come off—no exceptions. So try to
wear shoes that easy on/of, like slips on or no-tie sneakers.
- Pack your coats, jackets and sweaters in your
checked baggage or in your carry on, because you will have to take it off
when you go through security.
- Liquids over 3 ounces must be packed in your
checked baggage. Any liquids under 3 ounces must be packed in a clear bag
and shown to TSA officers when you go through security. Keep it easy and
try not to bring liquids on board at all. It will speed up your security
check in.
The more you plan to un-clutter before you get to security, the quicker and less stressful your
airport security experience will be.
